Chase Feature Extension
(Cogs 127 team project) People with income or financial support need a better way to track expenses in order to reach saving goals or maintain healthy spending habits; meanwhile, a budget feature might boost two KPIs of Chase: active mobile customers growth rate and average deposits growth rate. We conducted multiple rounds of user research and designed the high-fi prototype for such a feature. (Case Study Website)
Yelp Restaurant Reviews Analysis
(Cogs 108 team project; I served as team lead) Customers mention various positive features in their reviews on Yelp, such as “fast”, “delicious”, “friendly”, “healthy”, etc. Which feature has the biggest impact on a customer’s star-rating? We defined features and keywords with NLP, created dummy variables for each positive feature, labeled our sample reviews accordingly, and used linear regression for final analysis.

Study of White Cane
(Cogs 100 team project) In order to redesign white canes, we walked for a long distance with a blindfold and a cane, identified the challenges and our interactive strategies, analyzed microstructures of these interactions, and proposed the design improvements. This study helped me realize the importance and the possible extent of empathy.

Data Analysis & Prediction
(Econ 178 project) This project uses a dataset with 17 possible predictors to predict the variable tw (total wealth). Preliminary analysis was executed to generate possible interactions and polynomial factors. Then, the cross-validations and comparison between Stepwise, Lasso, and Ridge Regressions facilitated in the modification and the final choice of model.

Instagram AR Filter - Thank God
(Vis 143 project) I’ve been thinking about the opposition between the “world” and the “spirituality”, realizing what's against the "spirituality" isn't the “world” itself, but the way that people interact with this “world”. Technologies and media are neutral, what matters is how we utilize them. I wish that my project could shed light on a new relationship between the “world”, the “spirituality”, and ourselves.

Arduino Project - Joystick Poem
(Vis 147A project) This design combines the merits of Stress Relieve Vent Toys and Healing Apps. It not only allows Emotional Interactivity (the user can push the joystick with different strengths) but also provides Cognitive Comfort (the interaction data will be used to generate a poem, which is then presented in a website). May we comfort and support each other during this hard time =(^.^)=

Game Theory on Utility-based Relationship
(Econ 109 project) In the movie Marriage Story (by Noah Baumbach), the couple didn’t betray each other, but they accumulated so much pain and ended up divorcing. Ideally, we praise selfless love; but in reality, do people develop relationships in a utility-based manner? My analysis shows that if both sides try to maximize their utility from each other, the SPNE result turns out to be ironic.

Vaja: An Assistant Robot
(CSE 11 team project; I served as team lead) Vaja has 3 functions that assist users in different aspects of life: simulating stock market and buyer actions, holiday greetings suggestion, and leftover recipe matcher. I was in charge of the UX/UI and the visualization part of the stock market function. The biggest challenge for me was accommodating teammates' different goals/skill-levels and the course requirement; thankfully, we worked it out!

Redesign of LinkedIn
(DSGN 1 team project) To redesign LinkedIn, we conducted 15 user interviews with surveys and task observations, identified three pain points, analyzed the trade-offs and design space, and illustrated our design solutions. This project was my entrance to human-centered design.
